Increase to Standard Rate of VAT
What has happened?
On the 22nd June 2010, the Chancellor of the Exchequer issued a special budget statement that included a notification of an increase in the rate of VAT from 17.5% to 20% with effect from the 4th January 2011.
Ratebuster Instant call charges
Charges for calls made through Ratebuster Access numbers are billed to you by your service provider and not by Ratebuster. Your low-call hero’s Instant Access numbers are classed as Specialised Numbers. The price of the calls to Specialised Numbers, charged by BT, is set by Ofcom (the regulator) in the National Telephone Numbering Plan.
Unfortunately; the change to the standard rate of VAT has resulted in a small increase in the cost of calling using our Ratebuster Instant service.
The rates shown on our Ratebuster website show the rate that you would pay if you were a BT Residential Customer and are shown rounded up to the nearest tenth of a penny.
The new cost of calling our one penny per minute access numbers is shown as 1.1 pence; this is rounded up to the nearest tenth of a penny. The cost for calling this access number can be found in the BT Tariff Guide. The cost is currently 1.02 pence per minute; so for a ten minute call you’d pay 10.2 pence in call charges. BT also apply an 11.5 pence Call Set-up Fee to each call.
